Before
This is an older photo, probably printed in the 70’s, and the texture on the print is just out of control.

Solution:
I found that the best way to remove the texture in Photoshop was to:

1. scan the image in at about 3 times the needed resolution, so if you need to print the image at 3×5 at 200dpi, scan it in at 3×5 at 600dpi.

2. Then run the dust and scratches filter, under Noise in the filter menu. I used Radius: 7, Threshold: 0 for my settings, but you may need more or less on the Threshold setting.

3. Reduce the size of the image back down to the resolution you need. Image > Image Size

4. If needed, use a bit of a sharpen filter, but I didn’t really find that necessary.

After
After the dust and scratches Photoshop filter is applied, and the size is reduced, the texture is gone.

I know you will be tempted to just get out there and try to go down the hill, but DON’T! You’ll thank me later.

There are 2 skills in snowboarding that you need to learn first before anything else. They are the foundation of snowboarding, and without them, you simply can’t do it.

Start out by finding a mellow hill (not too steep, but not flat). Most ski and snowboard resorts usually have a beginner area, and this is usually the best place to learn. Find a good place that’s out of the way, sit down, and strap your boots into the bindings.

Step 1: Heel Slide

1. Starting out, you should be facing downhill with your board perpendicular to the slope of the hill (your nose should not be angled down toward the bottom of the hill).

2. Dig the back edge of your snowboard into the snow and stand up, keeping most of your weight on that back edge. You are basically standing on your heels here.

3. Once you feel comfortable and balanced there on your heel edge, begin to roll the balance off of your heels and the back edge of the snowboard, until you start to slide forward. Then roll the balance back to your heel edge again. This should raise the front edge and dig the back (heel) edge back into the snow, stopping your sliding.

4. Practice this heel slide for a while, sliding down and stopping with your heel edge, until you feel comfortable sliding down the hill.

Step 2: Toe Slide

This is exactly the same as the heel slide, except that you are facing the top of the hill this time, with your back facing the bottom of the hill. For some, the toe slide seems more difficult, and for some it seems easier. Either way, they will be equally easy in no time.

Step 3: Connecting the Two - Heel Edge to Toe Edge

Believe it or not, you are already past the hard part. Now you just need to learn how to link the two essential skills that you have learned.

1. Start out on your heel edge and begin to slide down the hill. This time, lean a little bit more toward the nose (front) of the board, so now instead of going down sideways, you are actually moving forward. Now lean back with more weight on your back heel until your board is sideways (perpendicular to the hill again) and stop. Practice this a few more times, until you are able to get the nose of your board pointed straight down the hill and come back to a stop with the board sideways. Now practice the same thing on your toe edge.

2. Once you feel comfortable, we are going to attempt to make the transition from the heel edge to the toe edge. Start out in your stopped heel edge position and begin to slide down, and angle the nose down until you are moving forward, like the step above.

3. The trick to turning the board is to turn your upper body, leading with your front, or leading arm. Turn your body slowly toward the way you want to turn. Remember, lead with your arms, and rotate the entire upper part of your body at the waist. The board should follow, and before you know it, you’ll be sliding on your toe edge. Do the same to get back to your heel edge.

TIP: Sometimes it takes a little bit more of a push to get from one edge to another, so use your back foot to re-enforce the rotation of your torso to help push the board to onto the next edge.

Puppies usually end up in an animal shelter for various reasons other than their own behaviour or personality. Common reasons are things such as the owners no longer have time to look after a puppy, they’re moving from a house into an apartment, they owners are divorcing and neither of them can or want to take the puppy, the owner dies or goes into a nursing home, the owner cannot afford the costs of owning a puppy, or a new baby is expected and the puppy doesn’t “fit in” to the new lifestyle. These puppies are good, well-trained, well-behaved and loyal pets and they areseeking a new home through no fault of their own.

Rescue puppies can be a very good choice for many people who simply don’t want the difficulties that training a young puppy can entail. It goes without saying that puppies need a lot of time and patience to house-train them, to socialize them, to teach them how to be a good puppy in later life. In a rescue puppy, you will find very often that this initial hard work has already been done, and you will be able to give a homeless puppy a good home that he will truly appreciate.

It is of course necessary to bear in mind that some rescue puppies will have initial problems in adjusting to a new environment and a new lifestyle, they may need re-training or need to “un-learn” habits, but you will probably find that this is less work than the training a puppy needs in the first year of its life! An adult puppy has the advantages of being calmer, and his looks, temperament and size will already be established and known.

If you are seriously considering adopting a homeless puppy then the first thing to do is to find out as much as you can about the puppy’s history. If he is in a shelter, the staff there will be able to tell you everything they know. If the puppy is still with his owners, then ask them as many questions as possible to get an idea of where the puppy came from and what life he has led, what training he has received and any medical history that is available. Find out the age of the puppy if possible, if he has been house-trained, if he is used to children and other animals, if he happy travelling in the car. Has the puppy been neutered, wormed and inoculated? Are there any on-going behavioural problems that you should be aware of? Make a list of questions and write some notes to help you remember any important points. It is important to bear in mind that a puppy’s behaviour at a shelter may not be representative of his behaviour in your home. Try to see the puppy at least a couple of times before deciding to adopt him, and take him for a walk on the lead if possible to see how he walks and how he responds to you on a one-to-one basis.

Once you have taken gone ahead and adopted your puppy, begin straight away with consistent kind firmness. Establish the rules from the moment the dig enters your home so that he can learn what is expected of him. Remember he will be confused by his change of surroundings and may well miss his previous owners, the shelter staff or other puppies. If he has not been house-trained or is confused about what he should do in your home, start a firm but kind training schedule to teach him where he must toilet in the future. Positive reward-based training is the best course of action - be firm, consistent and above all, patient!

Make an appointment with your vet to have the puppy examined and establish an inoculation schedule. Some behavioural problems and house-training difficulties can stem from medical problems, especially in older dogs, so your vet may be able to advise you about these too.

If this is your first dog, then read lots of books and articles about caring for and training your new puppy. Search for different games and ways of interacting together that also build obedience, confidence and a bond between the two of you. With patience and understanding, rescuing a homeless pup can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life for both you and your puppy.

Envelope Stuffing ads usually promise easy money for simply stuffing envelopes, but according to Howard Beales, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, “Stuffing is fine for turkeys and stockings, but envelope-stuffing scams deserve a lump of coal.”

Assembly Work at Home Scams

“Assembly Work” scams will usually either require you to invest hundreds of dollars in equipment and supplies, and or work many hours of your time manufacturing and assembling goods with the expectation that you will be paid, and when the time comes for you to be paid, the company will then refuse to pay for your work because it doesn’t meet their “quality standards.” In reality, the victems work is never “Up to Standard”, and this is how these fraudulent companies make their money. Avoiding these Scams
The 2 main questions to ask when you come across ANY work-at-home offer are:

1. Do I have to pay anything up front?
2. Are the terms of the work from home offer hidden or kept secret until you call or go to a 2nd step?
If the answere to either of the above questions is yes, then proceed with caution. It very well could be a scam.

What to do if you’ve been Scammed
If you believe you have been scammed by a work-at-home, or believe the company to be dishonest or shady, you should first contact the company and ask for a full refund. Your teeth and your smile can completely change the way you look for better or for worse. As a you age your teeth naturally loose their whiteness and become darker. Whitening Procedures
The procedure to bleach teeth uses oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide to lighten the shade of the tooth. The oxidizing agent penetrates the porosities in the rod-like crystal structure of enamel and oxidizes inter-prismatic stain deposits; over a period of time, the dentin layer, lying underneath the enamel, is also bleached.

The two main methods of bleaching both use oxidizing agents like hydrogen peroxide to lighten or bleach the teeth. One just uses high concentrations of the bleaching solution and is done in a dentist office, and the other uses a lower concentration, and us usually done at home.

High Concentrations: In Office
The high concentration method produces quick results but risks chemical burns to the gums, and sometimes also causes discomfort of the teeth for several hours or days afterward. To avoid burning the gums, dentists should use a protective layer of synthetic material to carefully cover the gums. The tooth pain that sometimes happens with sensitive teeth can be treated with an over the counter pain reliever.

Low Concentrations: At Home
The low concentration bleaching method, or take home method, uses a mouth guard or strip to hold a lower of the bleaching agent in contact with the teeth for a much longer period (from several hours to several days) . This is a slower process but has fewer risks to the soft tissues. The bleaching agent is typically much lower concentration of the bleaching solution.

Difficult Stains
In most cases, bleaching produces dramatic results and an improvement in the appearance and whiteness of most teeth, however, some stains are much more difficult to remove, and aren’t as easily removed by bleaching.

Tetracycline staining
Tetracycline stains may require prolonged bleaching, as it takes longer for the bleach to reach the dentin layer.

White-Spot Decalcifications
If you previously had white-spot decalcifications, bleaching may cause them to be highlighted and actually become more noticeable. So be aware of that.

• Avoid Smoking: Yellow teeth is really the last reason that you should quit smoking, but it that is what it takes to make you quit, then do it.
• Brush your teeth regularly with whitening toothpaste.
• Floss often.
